Meet my wonderful client, Dr. Meghan Dougan. She is a practicing naturopath based in Squamish, BC who focuses on treating patients holistically using natural remedies and healthy lifestyle suggestions. When I first met Dr. Dougan, she had just started a brand overhaul and was looking for photos to support her business’s new look.
The Before
Meghan found her previous brand was flat and unengaging. She also believed that her old brand and photos didn’t allow people to get a sense of who she is, and why she loves the work that she does. She was looking for images that would reflect the calm, comprehensive, and caring service she provides. It had been a while since her last brand shoot, which was pre-pandemic. (I think we can all relate here!) Dr. Dougan wanted to highlight who she and her business are now. So, we sat down together and discussed how my process for brand photo creation could best help her achieve her goals.
During
We decided to have Meghan’s brand photos show the behind-the-scenes of a naturopath at work, along with her hobbies to reflect the person behind the business. Especially with healthcare providers, it’s common for them to focus on the seriousness of their profession and not share on a personal level. This was definitely not the vibe we were going for!
As a brand photographer who has worked with many health and wellness brands, creatives, small businesses, developers, and more, I pride myself on putting my client’s personalities front and center. This is why we didn’t stop at only having her pose at her desk. Instead, it was fun and natural to capture Dr. Dougan doing acupuncture on a patient, calmly administering a blood test, as well as having her flow effortlessly into a yoga pose in the woods. Yoga happens to be her preferred way to destress and maintain a healthy lifestyle and fits with the messaging and aesthetics of her new brand. So, all in all, a win-win!
Now
The end result was a collection of bright, airy, and natural-looking photos showcasing Dr. Dougan as a professional naturopath you can trust… And a real person, too! The photos help support her new brand colours of blush pink, moss green, and neutral beige. In case you are curious, Meghan’s new branding and website were created by Robazzo. And I think they did an incredible job creating an attractive engaging site for our client.
Dr. Dougan experienced a stress-free, fun, and on-brand photoshoot! And in the end, she shared how she loved the experience of being photographed and thanks to all the preparation we did beforehand, felt comfortable and confident during the process.
